Suisun Valley is a quiet area of California east of Napa Valley. Vineyards abound and winemakers appreciate the quality of the grapes coming from Suisun Valley.

Remarkably, there are only a handful of wineries with tasting rooms plus a co-op tasting room with several participating wineries. This area of California is a pleasant region to visit with rolling hills of vineyards. Visitors can take their time traveling the country roads and delighting in the countryside. Lodging in Suisun Valley is available in Fairfield, California just minutes away from vineyards. Look for bed and breakfasts or consider renting a room that Vezér Family Vineyards has at two of its locations.

Vezér Family Vineyards

Vezér Family Vineyards has two tasting rooms open to the general public. Different wines are available at each location. One location is at Mankas Corner. This tasting room is adjacent to a deli, providing the opportunity to taste wine and stop for a bite to eat. The tasting room was once the location of the Suisun Valley General Mercantile and a Pony Express station. A meticulous garden between the tasting room and the barrel room is available to amble through. The second tasting room is the Blue Victorian, a 100 year old home with blue siding and white trim. A large barrel room is available behind the Victorian home. Two suites are available for rental. Vezér produces wines including Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah.

Wooden Valley Winery & Vineyards

Wooden Valley Winery & Vineyards is a large family winery and vineyard. The four Lanza brothers are the third generation operating the business. There are four hundred acres of vineyards including Petite Sirah, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Ninety percent (1,500 tons) of the grapes are sold to wineries and home winemakers while the remaining ten percent are used to produce their own wines. The winery produces Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli and White Gamay. Red wines produced include Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Pinot Noir.

Ledgewood Creek Winery & Vineyards

Ledgewood Creek Winery & Vineyards property was purchased in the 1980’s. Originally a pear orchard, the vineyards now comprise 260 acres of grapes. The tasting room is large with an adjacent patio. Wines produced by the winery include Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Suisun Valley Wine Cooperative

Suisun Valley Wine Cooperative allows visitors to taste wines from several local wineries in one tasting room. The cooperative has advantages for both wineries and consumers. Visitors have less traveling to taste local wines and the wineries benefit as they do not have to build their own tasting rooms.
