The Tech Museum of Innovation is the icon of downtown San Jose, visible with a mango colored outside and an azure roof. This museum is located in the Technology Capital of Silicon Valley. As one of the top tourist attractions in this city, there are many things to do at this museum.

A visitor will discover the interactive science and technology exhibits at this museum, Imax theater, gift shop with interactive games, and an unique special traveling exhibit open this fall 2008, "Leonardo 500 Years into the Future."

The Tech Museum fascinates all visitors and residents and is open daily Monday through Wed, 9 am – 5 pm, and Thursday through Sunday, 9 am – 8 pm. Admission for this museum attraction and one Imax show is $8 per person.

"LEONARDO is a scientific project by the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza di Firenze (Institute and Museum of the History of Science in Florence, Italy), in collaboration with Polo Museale Fiorentino. The exhibit’s curator is the museum’s director, renowned Leonardo expert and professor of the history of science at the University of Florence, Paolo Galluzzi.The exhibition is produced by Opera–Laboratori Fiorentini (Opera Florentine Laboratories)". Engineers and Art lovers will both enjoy this unique traveling exhibit during September 27, 2008 through January 4, 2009. Leonardo thought of science, art and technology as one, not as separate entities as it is today. He has inspired many innovators through his drawings and inventions.

Visitors will get of to see Leonardo’s works at this worldwide exhibit of over 200 artifacts in 30,000 square feet currently at the Tech Museum. The price of tickets for this exhibit are for adults (18-61), $15 for members and $25 for non-members, Youth (3 – 17) $12 for members, and $15 for non-members, Seniors (62+) / College Students with ID, $12 for members and $ 20 for non-members. Price of tickets include admission to other Tech Museum Galleries (Imax is extra).

Highlights of Exhibit

  • Research of Leonardo and other artist-engineers: Filippo Brunelleschi, and the Sienese engineers Taccola and Francesco di Giorgio
  • Three films depicting the current discoveries of Leonardo’s drawings and paintings such as constructing the Sforza Horse
  • Two original Renaissance paintings by Leonardo’s disciples on loan from the the Uffizi Gallery in Florence
