The area in and around San Pedro, California is home to some great haunted places to please every ghost hunter found in us all.

Ghost stories and ghost inhabited sites have been fascinating people for years, and some of the best haunted places can be found right in and near San Pedro, California. When speaking of any kind of a haunting near Long Beach, one will immediately think of the famous ghost ship, the Queen Mary. But, besides this very haunted place, there are actually quite a few other especially creepy sites near San Pedro to satisfy any eager ghost hunter.

Pointe Vicente Lighthouse

When traveling around the coast near San Pedro, California, you most definitely should make a stop at the Pointe Vicente Lighthouse. Besides this place having some great views, it is also reported to be quite haunted. The ghost that seems to favor this site is believed to be the wife of the first light keeper who fell to her death one foggy evening off the nearby cliff. Apparently, all was normal with this lighthouse until one day the Coast Guard decided to black out the side of the light that was becoming bothersome to nearby residents. Ever since, this spirit of a tall woman with long hair has been seen strolling around the grounds in a flowing gown. Some locals say that she has returned and become lost again in this newly created darkness. Pointe Vicente Lighthouse is located at 31550 Palos Verdes Drive and is only open to the public on the second Saturday of the month between 10:00am and 3:00pm.

Portuguese Bend

Not far from the Pointe Vicente Lighthouse, the ghost hunter can find themselves at Portuguese Bend. This is a beautiful strip of land between Palos Verdes and San Pedro that will offer gorgeous views and walks to anyone. If the amazing views don’t seem to be tempting you, well, then maybe the possibility of ghost encounter will. Visitors have reported numerous orbs and disembodied voices heard, and it’s really no wonder with how many people lost their lives by falling to their own deaths on these cliffs. Some visitors claim to hear warnings and cautions to the danger, while others have heard voices that seem to taunt them towards their own deaths. While a beautiful place to spend any afternoon, just be aware of the potential threats and possible encounters you yourself may or may not have.

Grand Warner Theatre

Next on our haunted tour, we will find ourselves in the heart of old San Pedro with the Grand Warner Theatre. This gorgeous theater opened its doors to the public on the 20th of January 1931. The Grand Warner Theatre was deigned by B. Marcus Priteca who later went on to design the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Besides just being a great place to check out a classic film, there is also a rumored ghost who may possibly be in attendance with you. The ghost is thought to be the spirit of an old projectionist who loved his job so much that he has never really left. On the 6th of March of this year, a group of paranormal investigators led by psychic Tuesday Miles spent the evening trying to turn up any new leads they could. Upon the lack of activity, some of the ghost hunters in attendance started talking amongst themselves. When playing this session back later on, there were clear voices heard in the background saying things like “Don’t Go” and then towards the end of the tape, “Get out.” Whether you believe this or not, there is a recording posted on YouTube that will allow you to make up your own minds if interested. The Grand Warner Theatre is located at 478 West 6th Street in San Pedro.

Whether one believes in ghosts or not, there is still really no denying the intrigue and mystery we all have in the back of our minds when thinking of such tales and places. This list above is only a few haunted places around the San Pedro and Long Beach area. Fort MacArthur, although not open to the public, which was heavily used during World War I and II has had reported sounds of heavy boots and such being heard throughout the halls. All of these and more make San Pedro a great stopping ground for new and seasoned ghost hunters alike.
